ISMICK

The ISMICK society is a network of scientist and practitioners working in the field of knowledge management. Members from different backgrounds and organisations exchange their experiences both through this website and through the annual ISMICK conference. The ISMICK network brings together participants from many different countries all over the world. Joining the ISMICK networked society connects you to a truely global knowledge exchange platform.
ISMICK started as a series of conferences that were organised by the IIIA (Institut International pour l’Intelligence Artificielle, Compiègne France) in 1993. IIIA, an industrial program, was created in 1989 by five major European companies (Aérospatiale, today EADS ; Framatome ; Rhône Poulenc ; SGN, a subsidiary of AREVA ; Shell ; Solvay) and the University of Technology of Compiègne. At first the goal of IIIA was to coordinate work and exchange of information on artificial intelligence and knowledge engineering. Progressively IIIA became a center for cooperative work between industry and academia, for mastering industrial and corporate knowledge, which led IIIA to launch the first ISMICK meeting, and progressively open it to other countries and cultures.
After more than a decade ISMICK renewed itself as a networked community of both scientists and practitioners working in the field of knowledge management. The current ISMICK community wants to express its gratitude to these founding fathers
